I was there when they first met, I was their best man at their wedding, I held there son in my arms when he was a baby...we camped together, worked together laughed together and thought we'd never grow old...they won't. I said goodbye to my brother Billy who was only 45 two years ago and tonight I said goodbye to his sweetheart Carolyn who was only 47. Frozen in time.

The Wake

Sweet flowers surround a shiny box

That just seems way too dam small

To hold inside the spirit of an angel

Who heard good old St Peter’s call

There’s a picture of a young girl

And one of a smiling bride and groom

But pictures cannot take the place

Of all her memories in this room

Grief hangs among the tired clichés

As visitors just say things to fill the air

I keep expecting, maybe hoping some how

I’ll see her and Billy standing there

Tears taste like sweet salt brine

For two dear friends too soon I lost

Somehow I know I’ll get by for sure

Yet my sorrowed heart pays the cost

Beautiful and sad write dear cuz. But remember Billy and Carolyn are truly together in the other life walking hand in hand that you can be sure. True love goes beyond our earthly relms I do believe there is no boundaries.

Love you
Selena

Dear Fee, I pray they're together and that they can read this. Reading this poem broke my heart and yet there is a feeling of hope between the lines. Only you could stir those emotions within this writer/friend.

Alas it is a road we must all trek. Yes we pay a cost, but in the end we'll meet again in happier circumstances. Victor

Oh, Felix. I am truly awed and humbled. What a very special man, brother, friend, father, grandfather... all things masculine you are. And what a very special heart you have, so truly soaked, steeped and seasoned in a life of many sorrows and infinite joys. Only a heart as big as yours could bear all of these highs and lows with such strength, grace and dignity. And with such honesty and overwhelming capacity for articulate outpouring. Just know we are all standing alongside you right now, silently holding you and taking the strain with our love and prayers of support. The presence of both these dear ones is positively palpable in this hallowed piece. And so fitting, somehow, that they sould ultimately stay together, from what you say... although that is hard for those they leave behind. Parting is such exquisite sorrow when you know that those who go have their true desires fulfilled elsewhere. Peace be with you to bathe your aching heart, soul and mind. I am sure you will be a rock to all those who need you shelter at this time, too. You always are. Love and many hugs, darlin Pops. Kate xx

I am so sorry for your loss; may God be with you and comfort you during this very sad time in your life! Too, too young; such a shame!

You never know when it will hit you until it happens; I nearly was on my way to checking out last fall, but thank GOD He let me live longer! I appreciate life more now since getting sick; gotta' make the best of it while I still can! :)

If it could be of any comfort, my thoughts are all the way with you trying to alleviate some of that heavy weight on your soul shoulders as many of your AD friends are doing.
God Bless

Felix you are in my heart and it hurts me to see you hurt. You have to know that she is with Billy now and that is where they belong, together. Yes we feel the loss of a loved one but time will heal our pain. Take care Felix and remember you are surrounded by love with your family here on Ad.

I am at a one year mark, with the loss of a beautiful man aged 35 when he died. He was my daughter's long time boyfriend of 15 years. He was killed in a tragic car accident. This poem brings me back to the day of his wake, it was the most beautiful night and literally, 5,000 people came to pay tribute to our fallen angel. He was a police officer in Hartford, CT. As you, we will miss our loved ones. Know that they are in a much better place, never worrying over the trivial details of human existence. I send our good energy and healing prayers to you and all your loved ones. Peace and love, and God's healing light to you dear, man, Fee,

We, the strong, live with the footprints of family and friends that go before us. We are left to honor them and tell their story. Your immense heart still grows.
