Once Again The Iron Horse Will Run


 


She rode by her son Tommy in his Dad’s forty-eight Chevy


 


The one she bought for him on their 20th anniversary


 


It took her nine long months of skimpy pay-cheques


 


But was worth it…just handing him the key


 


 


His beloved Harley Road King leads the procession


 


A mile of headlights creeping far behind


 


She whispered: “Louie this here’s your parade


 


The very best that I could find.”


 


 


With love she buried him and cried her tears


 


Rinsed off all their old memories shared


 


A thirty-year box of mind snapshots


 


So many things that proved they cared


 


 


She never thought she’d ride again


 


No more rallies for her on that Iron Horse


 


Wait what’s that rumbling noise she hears


 


“Come on Mom, climb on the back”…her husband’s son of course…

Most beautiful of you to remind EVERYONE Sweetie, that miracles still do come TRUE!
I love this poem, the openness you bestow with every line is simply divine!
Tears still sting my eyes, when I see all the memories they made and she kept in charge!
A Wonderful caring son will lead and add to dads many HurrahS'!!!

It's wonderful you have such talent that you can write a heartwrenching memorial like this for your friend and the memories of one gone! I admire it, though I don't know the people.

RaeLynn is so happy! Crying tears of sadness and joy - just got off the phone with her.

This is such a loving tribute to her memories of Louie and the joy that delights her heart through her sons, their wives and her grandchildren. I know first-hand, she has truly a truly loving family who care deeply and love their Mom.
