Sunrise Meditations
By: Fee
This poet makes no claim to secret knowledge or the experience of age
I see no reason to bolster my past or expound freely on every page
Time and I didn’t always get along but I’ll not cry about that
Now and then I made my sins and my list of wrongs was fat
I lived more than five times ten of the good seasons and bad
Treasured love of a good woman though sometimes it too was sad
Fell down drunk a time or two on the bitterness of humanity’s tears
And way too many nights I lay awake when sanity ignored my fears
Seen myself in my child’s eyes, ate up the adoration of her smile
Saw the child of my own child and walked hand in hand with her a while
My name may grace some fading page when all is said and done
Just sign my rock I lived, loved and laughed beneath this earthly sun
God bless you. Kathy
It seems to me that you have decided to see what's essential and therefore accept your humanity. It's a beautiful choice.

nobody's list is thin, Fee. But forive yourself and you'll be forgiven.
I love this line in your poem and I am so glad you can see yourself in your daughter's eyes.
Beautiful!

"Sanity ignored my fears" made me ponder. It could be reversed, too--my fears ignored sanity.
My favorites are the last four lines. This is worth more than a quick reading. Thanks, Fee

Beautifully penned introspection: you lived, you lived well, and are at peace. Excellently penned: we should be so comfortable. :)

If mine is signed the same way, I think I'll be a happy man.
Excellent reflection on life. We have a lot in common = age, granddaughters, and especially getting up early. LOL. Really enjoyed this great write.
