I know this hesitation well. You are accomplished and deservingly so. This poem is a great reminder of why you should continue to write. What defines a writer is the way he/she feels about writing. Could you live without it? I know I couldn't. It's a passion and a way of life. Keep living your passion~

Wonderful, Felix! I, too, lack formal training and education, and find that this is a cause to hesitate, but the responses, the joy, the love you get from others because of the Gifts you give in prose, is a witness to the fact that you, dear friend, are indeed a fine, eloquent Writer! You have no idea how many you inspire (myself included!) Please never doubt that you are a gifted, talented WRITER!!

If you need confidence from others to know that you are a writer, then you are not a writer, because confidence to put even one word on paper, has to come from deep inside.

WE are the story masters; WE are the entertainers of the word; WE are the muses of society; WE are the thinkers, the shakers, and the doers. If we cannot think, shake, or do what we set out to do on paper, our keyboard, and even in our mind, then we have no business even writing a letter to a friend or loved one.

But my dearest Felix, you are a writer. You are a writer of great wisdom, and funny anecdotes. Never for a nanosecond even think that you are anything but a writer. Of course you are a person first, but you definitely ARE a writer. WRITE ON!!!!!

ABSOBLOODYLUTELY, Darlin... You speak for one and all, I'm sure. Perhaps we ALL ought to try this exercise. You've wrought it well, too, and have certainly captured some of the great things we know you for.. and respect you as. I think we all suffer this, Felix. Calling ourselves "writer" somehow sounds perhaps pretentious, cos it necessarily attracts to itself in people's minds the unspoken descriptor that goes with it: i.e. "famous". But such is not always the case. I learnt early on in my MA studies that to feel yourself to be a writer is like describing yourself as how you know yourself to be... as natural as Canadian, English or whatever. i.e. It is what we feel we are by nature, and not be learning or profession. Even if what we wrote was locked away in an attic for a million years, never seeing the light of day or crossing another person's sight, "Writer" is still what we'd be. Felix, not only are you a writer in your own mind, eyes and heart, but one who is recognised and appreciated by many... who are just an accumulation of very special "ones"! :)) Bless you and never lay down your pen! I read your words in kinship and empathy! We are who we are - regardless of whether the "outside world" validates it (that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.....)!

I think most people feel this way Felix unless they are making the big bucks, but if we write we are writers. You will always be a writer to us because you do it so well and thank you for shring always with us.
