Wanda’s Christmas Tree

Okay finally the last of the turkey went into a pie

The fridge looks barer then Cousin Rosie’s thigh

The mistletoes all used up all withered and dry

The last drink of rum I just gulped with a sigh

There are twelve bags of garbage waiting to go

At least half of a forest that no longer will grow

Santa’s gone home though he put on a good show

Heard he time shares in Florida in a lovely condo

The Boxing Day sales only told me what I lack

Still have a dozen presents I need to take back

New Year’s watching a clock as midnight we track

I’d rather be tucked up warm and cozy in the sack

So down with the streamers, the wreath has to go

Pack the ornaments and throw the tree to the snow

Let’s pack them away and watch a warm summer show

Kick the tree to the curb and let that cold wind blow
