Love people watching... and today at Starbucks was no exception...

Poem Artwork

Starbucks Staring

Sitting here at Starbucks drinking dark roast blend

Looking around the room at the readers end to end

Laptops clickity clacking a tune from out in cyber space

I'm sitting reading faces in this modern market place

A business man is planning out tomorrow’s sale’s plan

Pauses to checks out a student with her sprayed on killer tan

A Mother is pushing the stroller of her darling little one

Yes, she says next stops the park and the morning sun

A man and woman in love hold hands smiling eye to eye

Perhaps a forbidden lover's tryst as cupid heaves a sigh

An old man nurses a three buck coffee in his trembling hand

Watches the spilling grains in the hourglass of shifting sand

A pervert gets an eyeful of fantasy and breaths his sighs

As he ogles the ladies naked with his borrowed x-ray eyes

A woman in a cast, a furtive magazine flipper reading fast

Music no ones heard served on an air conditioned blast

Now my watch says it’s time to go and I offer smiles as I leave

Knowing they know me too, the man with his heart on his sleave…

Well here I thought as a Maritimer as well that watching other people in coffee shops was a quirk of mine-LOL-now I see you do it too

a friend of mine once said that the most fun he had was sitting on a bench in a mall and watching all the different people walking by-lot of good images you have painted here-well done

Felix, you have translated the Starbuck people watching experience into a delightful reading experience for me -- I enjoyed it very much -- that is me sitting in the chair next to the old man-- peace and love my friend -- Jon Michael

Cuz this is great, mind you I seldom go to Starbucks, but have certainly taken the time wondering what other were thinking off while sitting at their table at Tim Hortons. And yes I am sure they wonder about me.

Love to you cuz,

You paint a very vivid picture, Fee! I was the one in the corner peeking over my Neruda. Isn't people-watching entertaining? Nice piece! Hugs, Elizabeth

You certainly brought this scene to life Fee. If they are looking at you they are looking at romance and tenderness.

Enticing read, Fee! Makes me want to make a trip to Starbucks, after a long 8 year-haitus (I'm a tea drinker). Guess I'd best take a book with me to wait for all the interesting people you poetize of. You should copy this and offer to the store manager :o) Enjoyed much, friend!

I don't go to Starbucks (can't afford it for one thing, plus I don't care for coffee unless it's black or done Cajun style; I have to be in the mood to drink coffee! LOL), but I do people watch, everytime I'm out! I LOVE it! (And you!) Great write, Fee; well done! BRAVO!

Oh brother! you could have collected enough material for a book just looking at people going by as you nursed a cup of Java.
Now, if you were twenty...the trembling old geezer or the Mom stroller pushing would have go unnoticed because your borrowed X-ray lusty eyes would have been glued on that sprayed killer tan...

I love the way you wrote this, it really shows what a talented writer you are and I hope you never forget that- this reminds me of when I worked in the bookstore and spent my lunch break in our built in starbucks cafe (thankfully, I would get a 50% discount), and I used to people watch, too, though mostly I would write- I miss those days sometimes. Excellent work, as always. Blessings, Michelle :)
