Just some idle morning thoughts...

Poem Artwork

At the Dawn

Sitting up here high on a mountain

Of cold granite, glass and steal

I’m looking down on the valley

A misted maudlin haze of surreal

Traffic flying by on interstate

People going anywhere but here

Wishing somehow, someway

It could someday take me there

City lights twinkling like beacons

As far as my searching eye can see

Is each one just another lonely soul

Looking out a window just like me

Grapefruit pink tinges of a sunrise

Offer the promise of another chance

Let the music start and the curtain rise

If the world a stage…let’s dance

Soft, simple and sweet, Felix, it seems dancing-to-self is okay, anymore.

For us outdoors-types and country/coastal dwellers, urban living can cut quite a cold, steely swathe through our hearts and minds at times. Yet there is also something magical and living about a city sunrise, too... it's desire to transform and bring to life... or soothe away the night-time ills. You have penned each verse with thoughtful contemplation and delightful observation, but the last stanza is so fresh and up-beat that it's a wonderfully hopeful note and turn to end on.... or rather, begin on! Any excuse for a tango, yes! The rhythm of life beats on with the grace and energy of every rising dawn. Love this bird's-eye view, Felix! :)) xx

I feel kind of a blues mood.
There is not enough dancing going on for sure.
Very well done Fe.

I would imagine you on the porch, with a blanked over your legs and a guitar on your lap, giving dawn a few soft tones to wake it up slowly so slowly, like a grandfather would welcome a grandchild coming out of a nap.
