The Edge

Life has so many twists and turns and we can only follow our hearts and our minds where they lead us. Often we hurt others along our way even when we try our best to avoid doing just that. All we can do is hope for forgiveness and understanding...

The Edge

A verbal dagger’s edge

Honed razor sharp pain

Pierces flesh into heart

Strikes again and again

Draws blood of salt tears

To seed doubts of regret

Dark clouds brew above

In hopes hate will forget

Hand held open and bare

Truth not mystery here

Paths walked side by side

Could have led anywhere

A very poignant rebuttal of self here, though you are human, and humans err...
I love the way you have penned this write, as it is a little different, and very enjoyable.
But then, who could not enjoy your work??

Fee, no one in this Universe is perfect. We will make mistakes, we will hurt other's feelings, we will be hurt ourselves. It is how you deal with all of this that makes you a honest person. If you can honestly say, I really didn't mean to hurt that person, or the intention was not to do that...and you feel okay deep in your soul, then there is no harm done. We all must answer to our maker and it should keep us pretty upstanding for the most part. We are allowed to slip once and again, but learning from it, it key!

Quite an inspiring poem you have written.
Much peace, love, and light,
Amber "V"

I feel this one so deeply, Felix. I have an in-bred, inbuilt Jonah complex and EVERYTHING is always my fault. But I am learning: learning that I shouldn't always feel that I need to subordinate the truth of myself in order to protect others from harm as I have lived all my life as a shield and a comfort, such that I have been in denial of my own damage and needs, taking and absorbing everyone else's pain. As you so aptly articulate, TRUTH is the measure by which all things are squared. If are dealings with others are always truthful, then, no matter the hurt, ultimate healing will always follow as I don't believe any true or lasting goodness comes from relationships that are founded and operated on sham. Like a surgeon's knife, truth will always clean the wound it creates. We end up "hurting" more people if we always try to appease everyone. Yes, in truth we walk "side by side" but if others choose to leave us, so be it. Truth sometimes hurts. We aren't responsible for that, neither can we control it. I am very late to acknowledge such truth myself, hence the homily. Great poem! :)) xx
