I don't usually use my own photos in my work but got a new Nikon for Christmas and this was one of the first pictures I captured in Eastern Passage Nova Scotia, not to far from where I live.

Poem Artwork

Nova Scotia Morning Sky

There’s a salt taste on ocean mist

A light wave swell rolls in the bay

The sky shows promises of an Angels

On a Nova Scotia winter dreaming day

Car radio is playing a sad folk song

Something about men who go out to sea

Without really thinking, I think of you

Wondering if you are maybe thinking of me

I leave my car to walk the beach

Find a sea shell on a driftwood shore

Put it to my ear and listen carefully

hear a voice and know its you once more

Although I can barely hear you talking

I know from memory the words you say

I love you and I miss you sweetheart

In your world so far away…

Fabulous captures in words and visual, Felix... wonderfully complementary. I look forward to many more poems inspired by your camera! Surely the sun drains through a rip in the sky here. You are blessed indeed to enjoy such seascapes. xx

Felix! This really hits a cord.
I've walked that Fundy shore and done almost the same.
The Love I'd lost there, to me, in dreams, still came.
And now you bring me back to that magical place and time
To where all the world stood still and faded to sublime.

Thank you.

Oh, Felix, what a wonderful poem. There is nothing as soothing, or as frightening as the ocean. However, in this case, with these words, your melancholy theme truly pulls long gone memories from my mind.

You convey well the depth of commitment suffused by this now lost once upon a long-time relationship, and in such natural cadences and rhythms. Matthew Arnold called it the "still, sad music of humanity"..."the turbid ebb and flow of human misery"... You've said it well.
