Oh I know they call it Father’s day
But that’s not what it should be
I think they should call it Daughter’s Day
As you make each day special to me

I held you in my arms the first night
You came into this world so proud was I
I watched you take your first step
And I’d hold you when you cry

I watched you and filled with pride
With every success in your life
I cried the day you told me
That you soon would be a wife

I hugged you close and kissed you
The night you said you had a surprise
I’d soon have another little girl to love
Happy tears again filled my eyes

Oh we had our share of ups and downs
It was so very hard when we were apart
