Alas he hits the “save as” button
Drinks the last sip of cold tea
He turns off his radio white noise
Then hits the power down key
Word count of forty thousand
Page three hundred and ten
Nights, days, weeks and months
Married to his electronic pen
Mind, heart and soul poured into
Once just a vague idea sublime
A lot like piling building blocks
One block equals another line
Had no clue to where it was headed
Only knew he had to follow along
To see where it was going to take him
Whether good, bad, right or wrong
On the last page he typed “The End”
He smiles knowing that’s its a lie
Now comes his rewrites and edits
If its to ever see the publisher’s eye
Always,
Deborah

How so very true! I've published six books, and the feelings were the same, with each of them.
Congrats on reaching your latest Last Page.
"To see where it was going to take him
Whether good, bad, right or wrong"
because whatever the outcome, we keep working, wanting the experience to be complete. Nice!
