Gin Rummy

An intelligent conversation
along a railroad track
Two drunks were talking serious
in the tone of matter-of-fact

One said, "This is the longest staircase
that I ever did see."
"It's not the stairs" said the other
"It's this low handrail that's killing me."

Then one said "If I had the money
I'd buy that company Intel"
The other replied so smugly
"And just what makes you think I'd sell."

One told the other "If I had a genie
My dreams of a beautiful lass I'd reap."
His buddy replied, "But fair beauty you know
regretfully goes only skin deep"

Considering his buddy's comment
The other one's face brightly shone
the response was "Of that fact I'm aware
but ugly goes straight to the bone"

One final overheard comment
before the fast breaking day
"I was told last night I was the worst drunk
in the whole U. S. of A."

"I laughed out loud at that lady
and when she asked me what for,
I said in the morn I'd be sober
but she'd still be the same old and ugly.... then and forevermore."
