Blue Madonna Rising

by Aberjhani — Read all 107 poems by Aberjhani

From the book Visions of a Skylark Dressed in Black.

Tuesday, December 20, 2005

Poem Artwork

Mother of spirits, of music-babes

dreamed pure as breath of secret dawns,

your flesh-eyes are the spinning lights

of Gemini. And your far-seeing third eye

the whispering planet of Venus.

With hips like Africa’s rocking cradle

and breasts like sun-ripened roses

you lie dreaming in the desert,

the diamond-cleansed milk of your soul

giving strength to infant voices,

the star-nourished fruit of your visions

squeezing overripe poems out of ancient prayers.

In my ring of kef I step back

to cold Christmas mornings when heat shed my flesh
to rhythms of my love for you.

We danced a cosmic dance wild and divine

and you were the song I always sang best.

I was the spell of burning tongues

you most loved to cast––

the sweet and the sweet, you and I,

slowly seducing time’s fascination with itself.

Almost immaculate. Almost angels.

Within our blessed embrace

Love giggled and shined tirelessly,

always eager

to give her perfectly flawed self

to her other perfectly flawed self.

"Blue Madonna Rising" takes one to fly on wings of imagination under the clouds of intuition, and brings one to land facing the rainbow of creativity on the garden of the Poet, where one can breathe scented moments of wonders.

Thank You, Master Aberjhani for showing another flower to enchant and educate us on our journey to beauty.

In gratitude and reverent admiration.

I like the way you bring oposites together to emphasize meaning in phrases like: "to cold Christmas mornings when heat shed my flesh
to rhythms of my love for you". Concepts like "wild" and "divine". You take us through your final words: "Almost immaculate" "almost angels" but not quite we're perfectly flawed, and so is life and love. This brilliant piece of writing, is deserving of study. Thank you for this poem, and for getting my brain in gear. You made me want to write. You really did!

Are we imperfect or are we merely unique in ways that do not conform to the considered norm? Certainly, being poetic, imperfection seems so amazingly acceptable and so easy to define and it also appeals to our insecurities(and even the strongest of us have them). Consider that we each may be perfect and exactly as God intends for us to be at this exact moment and we get a whole lot of questions about how even opposites could possibly both be perfect. I am bending from the point of your poem here,I know, and I appologize for doing so, because I really enjoyed this wonderful offering; its beauty, your wonderful images and the overall feeling of joy that it created in me as I read it. It is a masterpiece in its own right and contains an understanding that seems inspired and evolved...it is for that, I asked about perfection in all things not to argue your words. You simply got my wheels spinning. Oh My Gawd!!!! What if we ARE actually perfect??...LOLOL ;) Excellent writing!
Take care,
Sherry

This is a delightful piece of work. The composition is lyrical and the imagery is otherworldly...it touches on so many levels...sensuality and spirituality...eroticism and innocence...This is an exception piece of work my friend.

A passion of intense delicious imagery, that has one's mind going off on all kinds of tangents, such is the poems voracity. Mystical yet strangely familar, The Blue Madonna is a true beauty.

This poem has so many layers, can be read several ways. Yes, it is a love poem, but it could be two lovers, a mother and child, a goddess and pilgrim. However one reads this poem, one cannot escape its beauty. It's lit with the glow of cherished memories welded into the heart by soulfire and reborn as mystical aria . ~~Nordette

How incredible your vast knowledge is to allow you to conjure up such a ripe and luscious fruitful offering of sublime love perfected in divine places...

Is this a perfect poem of perfectly flawed perfection? the conundrum, I say with the caveat, if there is any flaw, it is perfectly flawed. Your astonishing poetry ,and your last lines
made me say that;-)!Now I'm pondering if I said it right, all your
fault!;-)

Christmas blessings to you and yours,

Almost perfect... am I kidding?!! You have captured perfectly what it means to be sinless, flawless... ALMOST immaculate by the grace of God and yet... not quite! The human quotient is there and what a quotient it is: the very best bit: passion! Passion is, by its nature, fire and free-ranging... and maybe it's its lack of discipline that makes it "flawed". Yet God Himself is the author of all passion, and displays Himself as a passionate God, capable, of course, of the full gamut of emotions.... and would we dare suggest that He is flawed? Impossible! This "Blue" Madonna therefore knows and tastes of perfection itself - freely, fully and without censure. Perfection! TY Kate xx
