This is about the Australian counterpart of the rooster crowing. LOL.

The Australian Alarm Clock

By Barbara Lynn Terry

As I lay there wide awake,

I wondered what to make

Of the noise outside,

That makes me want to commit homicide,

Of that pesky, noisy magpie.

So as I lay with open eyes,

I just let out a great big sigh,

And slide me feet from under the sheets,

And off to the shower I go,

Yawning and shuffling my feet so slow.

Thank you Heckle and Jeckle for the alarm,

My early morning wake up call,

On this very nice Sunday, my day off.

Now I can have my breakfast,

In the shadow the sun does cast.

YAWWWWWWWWWN.

Barbara, this is just adorable!!! I loved every line and found such humor in it. I've heard the crow of a rooster many times in my life and I could have choked it to death but I loved critters too much.

Ah! yes, wonderful poem here Barbie, I remember when the Magies used to wake me in the morning, unfortunately now here where I live in Cairns & most Australian cities the morning call is now being taken over by the introduced pest "Indian Mynah bird" these birds are prolific breeders & destroy our native's nest's and kill the young chicks, they have been nicknamed "the flying cane toad" & they should be eradicated.

Very humorous, but a very irritating "feeling" presented. Some folks are so reinforced to the time clock that even years after retirement they wake up at the same time every morning. I enjoyed your cute poem.

The early bird gets the worm, Barbie...hope all is going well for you. Your spirits seem to be up a notch...keep your chin up...that magpie is singing you into a new life...there's a message there...magpie is a messenger...be well. Blessed Be.

Love Always,
Sage

This is something a bit similar to what I wrote, "A Dead Clock", only expressed a thousand times better. I guess the hardest thing to do in the day is get out of bed!
Loved it.
