The Hummingbird
by Barbara Lynn Terry

This is what I saw as I watched a hummingbird
nearby.

The hummingbird was there
flitting from flower to flower
feeding on the sweet nectar.

It fed on the azalias, and the petunias,
it fed on the tuplips, and the violets.
Then it flew away, it's appetite sated.

Delightful poem! I too love hummingbirds. I miss seeing their glorious flights, darting from flower to flower. I used to stand still while watering my garden and they would dash for the water gush from my hose, and drink from it. It was really something to behold. I don't live in California anymore (sigh) and I really miss the climate and all its wonders.

They are truly delightful little birds, I have a feeder in my picture window and this past summer watched them flitter back and forth to it.

Barbara,
The title caught my eye because I LOVE hummingbirds. I have 2 feeders on my front porch and they feed from them all day long. Its only sugar and water but to them its a treat. I can sit on my porch and watch them for hours, they are magnificent. Loved this poem!

Many blessings,
~Linda
