The Meeting On The Beach
by Barbara Lynn Terry
I once had an aching bone
that needed to be toned
so I set out to get a tan
when I met this handsome man
"Hello, how are you?" He said to me
I ignored him hoping he would let me be
"Do you come here often?" He asked
while in the sun I basked
I bided my time ignoring his stale lines
So I sat up to put lotion on my legs.
"Here, let me help you", He said with a smile
I looked cross but I was baiting his every wile
I looked out across the lake
my picture he did take
as he offered me his hand
and we stood in the sand
Hoping that the other would talk
then he asked me to walk
with him to get an ice cream
and I thought this was a dream
But when he held me in his arms
he poured on all of his charms
and asked me to marry him
and I said yes on a whim
So come Easter Sunday
we will have our wedding day
with a stranger that each
of us met on a beach
