Drought
Dry creeks wait in the sun
mourn for long past seasonal flows
hot days shrink their stability
Water birth mother of us all
has forsaken
her once verdant secret places
those places cry out
for upthrust rocks awash with fluid
a wetting to make their mosses grow again
