Locating Beauty
The new dwelling feels bare
Pictures from the old abode
Lean listlessly on baseboards
We get to work and
Old differences awaken
She likes primary colors
And their proximity in patterns
I see forms first and
Meaning in their relationships
She prefers lower to my higher
In the beginning there is dispute
In the end pictures find places
Rarely in argued spots
Two visions of beauty
Yield to a larger desire
Our home celebrates difference
But even more, commonality
Unexpected new beauty
That marries what we knew
With new love and seeing
