Natural rhythms

Woodpecker

The native, woodsy
aroma
of Indian corn bread,

mulberry, pinon,
and
pine.

Altered state
of
consciousness.

Drumming.

Baking.

Outdoor adobe
oven, horno.

Native American
myth,
mountains are
hollow inside
just like
the
adobe oven,
for baking
and
tempering
one's
spirit.

Symbol of
communion
with
blessed
spirits.

Drums
align one
with the
heartbeat
of
Mother Earth.

Natural rhythms.

Drumming.

Calms your
emotions,
activates
sexual energies.

Listen to the
woodpecker.

She
is a
weather
prophet.

Forthcoming
changes.

Now time
to move
to
the beat

of your own
drum.

Woodpecker.

Wow! This is really an inspirational poem. I love the hollow mts for tempering one's spirit. That's really interesting and something to always remember. The end here is wonderful.
woodpeckers though I really admire and feel sorry for though. That pounding and all the work to build a home with their beak OUCH!! We had one lost and lonely one here for a couple of years it would go around to the telephone poles and each spot on the pole had a different tone each pole was different tones. Almost like he may have been talking to someone but with your poem here says he was warning us. Very enlightening poem.
Thanks!

Gotta watch those darn woodpeckers, there. Loved this poem. The premise of spirits and drums and that old sexual standby (always standing by, uh huh) and the cadence was fantastic. Yup. I liked this.
