Her job is to create
strong characters,
assign them personalities
to carry them through
the seasons of the story
from the time they are
introduced.

Her art of storytelling
lies in different ranges,
just like the type of
snowshoe varies by
frame shape and weave,
each style of story suited
for that particular audience,
the snowshoe suited
particularly to the terrain
and type of snow.

A showshoe, like a novel,
bears the weight in the
middle section, the central
section requiring a thicker
guage of hide.

Wearer of snowshoe or
writer of lesbian fiction,
we're breaking trails, out in
open terrain walking in long
swinging strides, lifting our
toes and letting the tail of
the snowshoe drag, setting
a pattern that will be followed
again and again imprinted
through story.

I love the way many tools, clothing, etc. have deeper meanings, especially in the Native American lore. For example, I find it extraordinary that the Inuit can describe many different types of snow and have names for each kind. We just call snow...snow, but there's so much more to it than this single word shows. I liked this very much.

I very much like the way you used the snowshoe as a symbol in your poem, Sage. Thank you for the lesson once again. Love and peace to you,

This is a salient and salutory lesson in the arts and crafts of the craftsman storyteller, Sage
The central section of the story or novel is of crucial significance, as it is the pivotal fulcrum that binds the two, the counterbalance that ultimately decides the fate of the essay.
This sits so well Sage with my posting today, The Pupil Becomes The Master, and a perfect example can be seen in the mid section of Jerry Bolton's absorbing story " God Sleeps Tonight--Chapter 7 "....:)
Your readers are being given a most worthy demonstration by your imparting of the definitive roles and obligations that are pre-requisite for the competent and professional writer !

You blaze new trails, forge into previously unknown territory and we yell "Eureka" when we read your fabulous poetry, for you take us on the journey with you. Excellent, excellent poetry once again; well done!

let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! Snow women melting in the sun, nothing left but their snowshoes and footprints to show where they have been. A poem to tingle the senses.

The allegory of the snowshooes re storyteller is a good one. And, yes, when one blazes a trail across virgin territory there is a need to drop bread crumbs or drag a snowshoe for those that will follow.

Most excellent balance. The snowshoe is a piece of engineering that promotes balance and support...like the storyteller here.
Well done.
