I go into find some spiritual bounty to put in the back of my black & gold Lincoln Navigator. I go into a store catering to chiliheads and I buy a dozen cross-bone soup spoons. I don't believe in much that art or the afterlife can't explain!
I could be in Arizona today. Down the block at another store, I measure out one cubit, my arm from the tip of my middle finger to the bend in my elbow, an ancient unit of linear measure, to get the length for twirling. I buy a shiny silver baton with purple and pink streamers. I'm not going to be at the end of the parade sweeping up the f***ing streets!
Walking on through downtown to get a bottle of Sangria, I pass THE ARIZONA DAILY STAR who has heard that I am in town. Hot news travels fast! A spur-of-the-moment parade marches down the street. Spanish guitars, drums, Comanche flutes, and lesbian Cadillac drivers wearing hoards of purple Mardi Gras beads cruise the downtown. It is distinguishable from every other parade. Tucson isn't like other destinations. It doesn't eagerly turn itself out for the visitor ... but it does for Firebrand Celebrity Lesbian Novelist Sage Sweetwater!

A reception as vibrant, unique and colourful as you, Sage. What would you expect otherwise?? A podium, bunting, a besuited Mayor and the hatted Women's Guild sitting with gripped knees and crossed ankles??! :)) Give me a break... Tucson sounds absolutely like THE place to be if you want to live a little. I take it, then, that there wasn't the general call goin around to "Lock Up Your Daughters"? You sure know how to set a scene... and then some... and even more how to CREATE a scene! Rock on and Whipcrackaway, Darlin... guess they'll be setting them up down at the Saloon, then?
