Roulette wheel spins
Gambles Medicine Wheel
Ring of Tipis Fate

Eagle flies Ancestral skies
Messenger delivers warning message
Native sellout

God imposters
Preach in the guise of bigotry
Famous tear cries of Iron Eyes Cody

Environmentalist healers
Pray for the Mayan Day
Wildlife and Land restore Gaia

Indian card dealers
Replace bead stringers
Zuni turquoise turns to green felt

Poker chips
Not the buffalo chips
That kept the warm fire

Sage, I have to admit that I left my heart and a few dollars on that green felt table, but hardly ever did I see the Native Americans that were reaping the profits off stooges like me. Nice write...

Dan

I once visited Oklahoma and was pleasantly surprised to see many native americans. All over the world poetic natural cultures are disappearing as the corporate machine rolls on and turns everyone into a 'consumer' at best, or low men on the totem pole, i.e. poor and dispossesed. The intelligent concerned people on our planet are doing all they can, but the whole philosophy of the world has been greed and acquisition. True communal living is sadly becoming a thing of the past, whether it be native america, mongolia, the highlands of Scotland or the glens of Ireland. Native American casinos! Well, some would say that's rich! And how about the native americans who work in factories making uniforms for the US cavalry/army?

I just wish the money flows into 'Indian' hands! That the native culture of america has lady luck on its side in the future ... viva las vegas!

poignant words-the white mans ideas and the natives are allowing themselves to still be destroyed-where is that fierce pride and sense of nation? There is no reason that the Natives should live any less quality lives than anyone else-powerful stuff here

"Zuni turquoise" / I once had a silver watchband made of that turquoise and red coral / Magnificent / The casino's everywhere are destructive as for as I am concerned / It benefits the few and sells snake oil dreams to the rest / Same old story / When we voted on casino's here in Louisiana they sold it by saying the money would go to the schools and taxes would not have to be raised / Hah! / Snake oil, I say, snake oil . . .

Brilliant. But what are the Native Americans supposed to do? Very powerful poem. Love it. Liz
