Skin in the Game Skin in The game With no words Mortality Buries a Preacher A priest A church Organist An entire Congregation Vagrants Wastrels Idlers Littered With those Godly two-fold Printed lists of Pallbearers missing A Psalm eulogizing The deads funeral Compliments of the Jehovah's but irrelevant The chaplain Silent on pre-disposal Of the ashes fresh from The prison crematory the Urns anointed with Rose of Sharon in contrast with the Cigarette cartons of Lucky Strikes Back in the day targeted packages Tucked in rolled-up T-shirt sleeves James Dean memorabilia prison Contraband The Anti-Christ Rolls the asphalt Given credit where Credit is due—666 On Lucifer's hearse rear License plate your number Is up La Brea Tar Pits Where the Crude oil Seeps Methane gas Bubbles boil Stirring Lucifer's Cauldron The Pitters Cremated We were Underestimated You are decimated Kill one in Every ten Ashes to Ashes Dust to Dust Ineligible for Resurrection Cremated The casket Closes The urns emptied Collective ashes Dumped Copyright Sage Sweetwater

your words again took me on a journey, Sage. with you, poetry is never ordinary. the leopard prints on your images are also becoming intriguing. thank you for this wonderful piece.

Now that's a death dirge! I don't want no stinking resurrection. But I sure want a fiery cremation where my ashes don't take up prime urban real estate until eventually when those marble monuments weather and no longer can be read. When the diggers move all the bodies to some appropriate dumpsite so the new building can go on for the space city of the future. Where all bodies henceforth are dropped from outer space into the atmosphere to burn up and sprinkle pixie dust throughout the earth for all nature to love and grow.
