Golden Cage

by Debashish Haar — Read all 156 poems by Debashish Haar

Thursday, June 8, 2006

A man pastes honey on his eyelids
before going to bed
to dream ants and spiders.
In the morning his eyes weave
webs of silver and gold,
his mind stretches wings.

Each evening flying
with the birds his mind enters
itself in a golden cage lit
by honey lamps.

I was inspired by Kate to read and I'm so glad I did. Incredible abstract poetry.

I pulled this up after reading Kate's poem this morning...and I'm very glad that I did! This is absolutely remarkable...a treasure...and Kate is right, it is an example of how to write poetry.

TOTALLY BRILLIANT in concept and execution, Debs. Am saving as an example of how to write poetry... a unique idea conveying a mind-expanding essence that is rooted and grounded in the tangible and expressed with minimal effort for maximum effect... makes me realise I have along way to go. Thinking now about what Nicoletta has said about it being "finished" (... are they EVER??!!), I think that possibly I might be tempted, had I written this (which I never could!), to go EVEN BOLDER and delete line 2; perhaps the fact that he is going "to dream", followed by references to morning and evening says enough? Just moving in on the debate, here, which I know you appreciate. Something this good deserves close scrutiny. Bless you and thank you. Kate xx

Your poetry is so unique and contains such excellent imagery, I loved this:

A man pastes honey on his eyelids
before going to bed
to dream ants and spiders.
In the morning his eyes weave
webs of silver and gold,
his mind stretches wings.

Outstanding Debs,

Reindeer

Nicoletta, I think it is complete. I know you may question some enjambment decisions. But it is already sent, and I may have to remove this post from internet (soon).

Debashish, this is quite good, I think that it's not ready but then again maybe it's just me. Perhaps because it's going to be published (printed?) I hope you are sure it's finished. Cheers,
Nicoletta
