The old toy is now just rubbish
Thrown aside and discarded
Lying beside the road
Once valued, even sought for
Paid for and now unwanted
Torn apart in the wind and rain
As the new toy is admired
Adored, loved and cherished
Forgotten is the valued treasure
Lying inert and scorned
Dirtied by many a loving touch
Outgrown and left behind
thought of this while watching my grandkids playing with their "new toys"
Let this coming of age story of a boy named Bean take you back to a simple time. Set in a small southern town in the 1960's, encircled by a river and gleaming white cotton fields.
