I Sought

I sought the flames and felt the heat Then frost arrived and served defeat I sought man’s love and passion sweet But that was torn from my hands reach I sought the moons cool silver sheen But dark of night is all I’ve seen I strove to lash out indiscrete That anger brought me troubles deep I sought redemptions living treat But all I got was winding sheets I sought death and ends concrete And now I finally have the heat

Loved the way you use that half rhyme in the second couplet rather than just forcing the like and ending up with something cheesy. Very good.
