That breeze that blows through trees at dawn
Like thoughts through tangled minds
The rays of sun split into shafts
Dividing houses into halves.
The pleasant smell of lilacs sweet
Invades the corridors of wood
And permeates each open pore
Leaving scents forever more
The grains of sand from the drive
Cling gracelessly to canvas shoes
And find their way deep into rugs
Defying vacuums kisses strong
And lie so still ‘neath footfalls loud
To wear out rugs in silent wars
The birds that fly in V-formation
Ignore the troubles far below
And wend their way to nests remembered
Left far behind in frosty times
The natural way is to live on
without forgetting memories rhyme
We pass this way but once they say
Leaving these indelible trails
That endure long beyond our days
Our mark upon the wishful world
Today I am, and then again
Tomorrow I imagine I
Will have gone beyond the skies
Leaving this pathetic place
But having changed it all forever
