woke up at 2am
couldn’t sleep
wandered around
got a glass water
and just thought
about
were my life is going
were my life has been
looked at carved pumpkins
that herald
another milestone
in the life
of my kids
one more
my own dogs growled at me
must have been my frame of mind
wondered which clocks had been set back
wondered if I really knew what time it was
wondered if I really cared
at 2am or 3am or ever
do I care that the hour is gone
do I care
crawled back
into my spot
are you ok
sure ya
just as good as always
just as good as I ever will be
sure ya
just fine
fine and fucking dandy
what else can you be
at 2 or 3 am
when you don’t have a clue
how you got where you are
and the dogs are growling
at you
sure
ya
fine
fine
fine
must have been my frame of mind
did you set the clocks back

A real emotional slice of life vignette, powerful, some things under the surface speaking to me. Love this, Josey.

That was a terrific read - and it's a good thing my computer did the change for me, or I would have missed it!

I was up about the same time Josie...several aimless trips about the house. Fortunately, no dog to growl at me. I hate those restless nights. Your write said it all...now to get used to the time change.

i hate daylight saving's time or when the clock goes back in the fall! well, at least i wasn't late for work yesterday, but the dishwashers that had been scheduled didn't show, so the boss (ruben) and me had to do dishes. in an hour and a half we both got the dishes caught up, but then i was starting to get shaky and dizzy (hypoglocemia), so he gave me a free breakfast as his thanking me for helping him. that was nice! after i ate, i went and did my regular job of rolling silverware, and in five hours, i rolled almost 7 1/2 pans of silverware (120 pieces in a full pan). yesterday at work we got ROCKED!!

good write, josie! love, your friend, karen lynn. (((((HUGS))))) :)
