Yes, the vampire is an overused theme and avatar in poetry and literature in general. But this piece has garnered a lot of attention elsewhere so I thought I would share it here.

slipping out of shadows, near,
trading white for red
playing on an ancient fear
seeking out your life
to feed upon in crimson taste
violating flesh
to find your passions now displaced
hunger for your veins
pain that reigns and stains with red

a mating dance in dying bed
