Upon a lovely eventide,Violet twilight drawing nighI looked up in startled surprise;Behold! 'Twas a Patch-Worked-Sky!A Comforter...A cloud-tufted sigh was the lining, Its fabric turned face-downThe outside faced Eternity,As I looked round and round!Encompassing me on ev'ry side,Far as my naked eyes could see;At intervals, the descending sun Poked through Threads of Divinity!Suddenly, a little red plane appeared,Pierced the "cloth", and darted, square-to-square;An incredible Fairy-Tale-DisplayWas certainly going on, up there!The plane seemed "caught", inside the fabric of my "quilt",Yet, remarkably content to stay;And with all known limitations of time removed,I wondered...if the passengers prayed.I marvelled with delight, as my eyes held fastTo that tiny private plane;I imagined the pilot's contemplations,Astonished, that THEY REMAINED...Inside the cynosure's protective coveringOf my bohemian "comforter" in the sky;If it was MIND-BOGGLING to me, beneathDid it affect HIS ambitions to fly?Or the passengers? did they even take noticeOf the MIRACLE they were withIN?Or were they simply lulled, like most people on Earth,By the "taking the plane for a spin"?For me, the whole phenomenon was capturedAs I stood gaping in awe, from my back porch,And then, it ended; whereas, I reflectedOn Father God...The Comforter HE sent forth.
YES WE ARE SO BLESSED TO HAVE SUCH A BLESSING TO US ALL AS WELL AS THE WICKED AND THE JUST. WHAT A MIGHTY GOD WE SERVE AND WHAT A COMFORTER IS HE IN THE TIMES OF NEED.
