Drawing black circles
into blue eyes
in pictures of you
To blind
rusted hinges
broken off the door
slowly closing behind you
finally jammed shut
To blind
four white walls binding
a cold shuttering hand
moving the pen
in every direction
accept toward you
along blank pages
in notebooks of the past
So feel
the morning dew
in all its comfort
of new beginnings
creeping toward you
as he turns
to kiss your forehead
and stroke your hair
So smell
The calming scent of rebirth
on hot paved streets of desire
simmering under an unexpected
rainstorm immersed
in the heat of late afternoon
I want you to hear
high pitched laughter
of a woman dressed up
for liberation
from cocktail parties
with all the cocks
in this cock-eyed world
Taste
the sweetness
sugar coating
the tip of your tongue
digesting summertime dreams
swallowed whole
after starvation
for salvation
from mediocrity
finally settles in
Now you can see why
every shard of glass
from the broken wine bottle
on the floor
still gleaming
the reflection
of your empty presence
still breaks my skin
every so often.
