When I was no more than a child, you see

A smile from Mom or Dad meant the world to me.

As I grew older I met a girl so fair

I found her smile would make me stop and stare.

One day she blessed me with a baby boy

Again I found his smile caused so much joy.

Then came a girl and then another.

I cherished their smiles along with their brother and their mother

I found their smiles made my life fulfilled

My troubles would seem so small and be stilled

My happiness was built upon their love

A love the originated from God above.

One by one they have brought grandchildren into my life

And I find that even amongst life’s worries, cares and strife

There is great joy to be found in each tiny smile

A smile, you see never goes out of style

And it always seems to make me happy

The call me Papa instead of Pappy

But what they call me is not my fulfillment

Their smiles are my greatest and happiest endearment.

So Smile and watch as you see a smile reflected

A friendly smile is seldom rejected.
