Jesus is quoted in the gospels as saying, “You think I have come to bring peace but I have come to drive a sword between brothers.” I truly believe he said this because he knew us so well. We have spent all of history fighting amongst ourselves. We have fought wars causing many innocent lives to be destroyed. Do you truly believe God did not know of our need for power, money and easy living? Do you honestly believe that he thought our desire for unity with him would not be costly to us in this world? I think he knew. He knows what we live with and he also knows what our reward is. Let us be one with God and that means let us be one with one another.
“Why do you fight amongst yourselves?” Our Savior quietly asks.
“Can you not make your love for me and for one another greatest among life’s tasks?”
He also asks us to search our hearts and bring ourselves to accept his love.
For if we truly accept his love we will surely be lifted above.
We will be lifted above hatred, bigotry, self-righteousness and sin.
For his love is our only salvation to make us one with him again.
What keeps the Christian faith from growing in this sinful world today?
The answer is the lack of unity. Division causes us all to stray.
How is it that those who do not believe can demoralize us this way?
The answer is that we have allowed it because together we do not stay.
If we believe in Jesus Christ we may have different understanding.
He will forgive us when we make wrong decisions for his love is not demanding.
So let us not separate ourselves from him or one another.
Let us love each other and join together treating others like sister in brother.
For in the eyes of Christ he who forgives will also be forgiven.
That forgiveness is a one way ticket to a place that we call Heaven.
Well said, Lew. God didn’t bring a sword with him when he came to us as Jesus. For God doesn’t need swords, his love is far more powerful than any sword. Hence, those who would use the sword to punish for God, are really stating, “This is what God would do if he only had the Power”. Alas, Tis’ the statement of a fool,indeed. For God is all powerful, and his will shall be done, and no sword can change that. Know that your sword serves only you and Caesar’s, and as he stated 2000 years ago, he has no need of it at all.
Another excellent call from the heart, Lew. God's instructions are so simple, yet we mortals make it complex. Love is key. Ever wonder why those who suffer from diseases like Alzheimers respond to love, but nothing else? These days, love is treated like disposable income. Here today, gone tomorrow, expect more on payday. WRONG! Even Christians get it wrong when they try to be a part of this world. Super write, as usual.

I have named this age (as every age has its name) as the age of the ego. I come first, second, third....God somewhere towards the end of the list. Even good Christians very often pray to obtain graces rather than to praise God. Yes we should not separate Him from from ourselves and from others. He should always come first. But too many now think of self and the now rather than of Him and the everafter. Victor
