As he stepped upon the top step leading into the attic one day
He heard a creaking sound upon the floor which caused him to look that way.
It was evening time and the sun was tucking itself away behind the hills.
Now he wanted an adventure in the darkness with its many hidden thrills.
As he walked across the floor toward a chest on top of which was a golden key?
It seemed that there was someone walking with him although he could not see.
He cautiously walked to the dirty chest and turned the key of gold.
What treasure would he find within this dusty chest; so old?
When the top of the chest was open he gasped in great surprise.
For it seemed as he looked inside he diminished greatly in size.
Before he could pull himself away he found himself engulfed inside.
His heart was pounding as he looked around and in a loud voice he cried.
Someone help me out, he yelled, but there was nobody there to hear.
Now his excitement and anticipation had suddenly turned to fear.
The box was now a room to him and there were many doors through which to roam.
He tried one door and then another, trying to find his way back home.
Inside one door he found a beautiful lady with long flowing hair of gold.
What are you doing in my house? she asked. If I may be so bold.
He stood quietly trying to think of something to say that would not cause her rage.
He swallowed and took a long sigh and then quietly turned the page.
He then laid the book aside and walked into the kitchen to get himself some refreshment.
His adventure had been written by the author for his great enjoyment.
