Poem Artwork

Is there a way to reach beyond space and time

and touch those places we cannot feel...

to face the void imposed by questions yet unanswered

with enduring patience waxing thin and frail?

Is this a time for us...

lovers fraught with lust, needy of joyous union,

aching for the grace of bodies one

enduring the relentless sentence life now imposes?

When will the slap of reality soften

allowing our dreams daring to take flight

dashing those who dare to unconsciously interfere

as sincerity of spirit rises above blind selfishness?

Can this love endure perpetual test

while so deserving the serenity just beyond fingertips

supported still in undeniable strength,

while longing for the blessing of a merged simplicity?

Where do the answers lie...

will we allow those vicious threats

to invade that space where only we exist

and undermine the integrity of a love so rare?

We will face our fate head on

together casting the lure of tenacity

looking beyond the trivial impasse

into what is consistently real and solid.

We will have faith in the destiny of desire,

side by side more powerful than apart

believing profoundly in one another

recognizing the composure and longing

found in lovers' eyes.

So come to bed with me now my one true love,

Come fill me with the desire that only you can give

And we will find strength in each other for tomorrow

and for as long as we both shall live.

Come rest upon my breast and sleep.

Dare to dream all the dreams we will share

and those unanswered questions will be answered,

the void will no longer be there.

Awesome poem. Nicely done, Taylor. Don't we all have the same questions at our core?

Having faith "in the destiny of desire" yes, that will fill the void with more than you ever dreamed possible. A poem filled with longing and hope for the future. Absolutely lovely, Taylor. Love, Lydi**

You excel in the romantic write as expressed here, Taylor. The ageless quest for answers has eluded many for eons but those who continuously seek shall find the answers soon enough.

These loving and comforting questions and answers could only come from one who knows the depths of true love well. This is both stirring and beautiful -an outstanding love poem with excellent rythm and flow. Her request and conclusion are words to live and love by.

Taylor, this poem is a journey launched from the question in the first stanza. I love the sense of passage and journeying in this poem; you really have brought a lover's trail of thoughts on a quiet and reflective night to your writing. If only I could write so well!

Warm regards - Fergus

"will we allow those vicious threats
to invade that space where only we exist
and undermine the integrity of a love so rare?"

I can certainly relate to these sentiments. Some has described love to me this way:

"Love has a different tune: I love you, therefore you are free to do as you wish. My love says you cannot do any wrong in my sight. My love says you cannot hurt me for it would not wish to make you responsible for the way I feel. My love says I am here for you if you want me, or I can be gone if that is what you wish. My love does not depend on your performance to exist - it depends entirely on a choice I make, moment by moment. My love accepts that you may even come to hate me for what I am and it is strong enough not to compromise itself to please you. My love cannot be manipulated. My capacity to love is infinite and is not bound by your feelings or desires."

Love and peace to you, Taylor.

Taylor -- Wow... this is quite beautiful! Very introspective and graceful - wonderful flow and feel. It tells a lot about you and a lot about life. To me, this says that you are an intensely 'giving' person, who has an immense capacity for understanding and a profoundly passionate soul. -- Jeff

"looking beyond the trivial impasse
into what is consistently real and solid"

Two that catch a vision together, that find love together, must endure testing in one form or another. Nothing "good" in this life ever avoids those seasons of testing.

As gold is refined by heat, so is love, sometimes in the furnace of affliction, sometimes in the furnace of negative opinion, jealousy gossip, doubt, etc.

"side by side more powerful than apart" is, in my mind, the most powerful revelation in this piece.

Knowing this should supply the wisdom and perseverance necessary to weather any storm, or battle together, with grace and diginity.

Really good write Taylor!

Your friend,
Richard
