My most often searched poem is
"Relaxing." I thought I would write
something similar, but different.

Coasting

Been peddling for some  long time,
time to coast and make some rhyme.

Head out for the coast,
play the music I love most.

On the road again.

On the road to who knows when,
coasting with my new old friend.

Don't you remember just around the bend,
where you can't go home again?

Coasting since who knows when.

The coast is where I want to be,
where the sun shines bright o're the sea.

Live off the land and be free,
in the land of golden opportunity.

That will never be again.

Been on this road since who knows when,
coasting ideals from glen to glen.

With sparkling pure waters from within,
the new gold of opportunity.

Becoming a desert again.

Stuck on this road to the coast,
coasting along like a ghost.

From the land that never was,
coasting along just because,

it will never be again, my friend,
… never again.

Great ballad!!! When we're young it seems like our journey will take forever...not so much when we pass fifty...giggle...enjoyed, Ronald!

Ron, this reminds me of a John Fogerty genre song, sort of a 'Lodi' and 'Rambunctious Boy' medley. As a Fogerty fan you can take that as the compliment I intend it to be. You need to put this to music and watch it rock. May peace and love be always with you my dear friend. Jon Michael

The Golden State I loved
is no more, but memories
forever coasting in my
mind from my heart..
Thanks, Ron

Wonderful poem, Ron.
Coming from the Chicago area, I have lived in Southern California since 1972. Loved it then and love it now. But, true, so true. The dream of California is now gone and "will never be again." The state of California is politickized and politically correcteized to the extent of turning it from the Golden State to the Corrosive, Tarnished state. However, tucked away in my little corner of: How lucky I am to have found this place; really though, there is no other place I would rather be.

Either way I go to the coast, it is coasting. It's all downhill from Denver! Love the pic!

Makes one appreciate his imagination (if he's kept it, respected it nourished it with "raise the bar" stimuli, rather than become anesthetized with what passes for entertainment, enlightenment, intellectual stimulation (I'm speaking of the inane means bombarding the vast majority of people seeking the "open road" of their narrowly focused lives with all the "wanna be somebody/celebrity craze mind set.) Yes, admit it or not, there are far too many of this ilk. Thanks for a refreshing and innocent appreciation of the simple.

Nice write Ron. I have been coasting all of my life and it's traveling around the globe that makes life interesting.

May peace, love and blessings shower all over you,

Your idea of coasting seems to speak of being on autopilot, where things become out of control or out of reach. Sometimes we all need to let go, to be free of expectations, to just enjoy the ride. Write On!

I see the visions. The deserts, the sea......it's like flying over them on a flying carpet.

Love ya!

Love this Ron, and I concur with your sentiments, "it will never be again." I spent many years off and on in California. That is what your words bring back to me. I loved it. I hated it. Love/Hate Looking at it now I can only feel sorry for it, because, once again, "it will never be again."
