It's really hard to tell what's going on with other people
as they struggle with life's ups and downs. It's easy to
misread what's happening, especially if they disguise
what's really bothering them. Sometimes, a little help
goes a long way and costs little or nothing when it comes.
to giving someone relief, action is far better than words.

Relief

Oh, the relief, when it finally comes.
May it be great or may it be small,
whichever way the water runs,
we've experienced it all.

When even wishes and prayers are unmet,
relief can still come; from the unexpected yet.

We all seek relief of one sort or another,
when all of our plans seem to run asunder.

When all hope is lost and we're being pulled under,
the last straw is grasped and keeps us afloat.
And when that happens it's humble, not gloat.

For who is not in need of occasional relief?
The rich man, the poor man, the occasional thief.

So judge not your fellow man for the state he is in,
who are you to define what is good and what is sin.

Just walk for a while in his or her shoes.
And judge not too quickly who will win or lose.

For you can provide relief with a simple gesture,
why let a problem lie there and fester.

The rush of relief is glorious to behold,
as the burden is released it's worth more than gold.

The ultimate relief is very simply, our death.
When we suffer no more and breathe our last breath.

I live by these words,"So judge not your fellow man for the state he is in,
who are you to define what is good and what is sin.

Just walk for a while in his or her shoes.
And judge not too quickly who will win or lose." Very well stated.

Very nicely done, Ronald. Relief is certainly a universal desire.

Wise advice, Ron; and thank you for sharing this philosophical perspective. Love and peace,

Well said Ron! Relief is medicine to all of us!

I'd say occasional relief would be a good bowel movement rather than the ultimate relief you've spoken of here...far better to have many occasionals than the one ultimate...-e-

I agree with June that everyone who reads this work will find a personal connection to your words. I appreciated your line regarding relief by a simple gesture. Perhaps the road at the end of our journey does not say "DEAD END", but, instead, Welcome.

Thanks,

Chris

I don't think there will be anyone who reads this that cannot relate to a personal instance and sometimes many. Life has many trials for all of us, some are faced with more than others but they make us who we are. Thank God for God.

AH, YES RON. THE STAGES OF RELIEF THAT WE ARE GRANTED ALONG OUR JOURNEY IS WELL APPRECIATED AND THERE WILL BE MANY SUCH BLESSINGS. BUT AS YOU SAY, THERE WILL BE NONE THAT WE WILL BE SO GRATEFUL FOR AS THE RELIEF OF OUR FINAL BOW. WONDERFUL AND ENJOYED, THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

You've captured the essence of what "relief" feels like, and how extending a small measure of relief goes a long way.

Yes, yes, and yes. Especially for those somewhat anesthetized folks who I'm sure found relief in the Alabama football stadium watching the red hat adorned bolowhard at the podium pontificate the coming of the... well, he's hardly the... yeah, that guy. But he thinks he is. That's his relief.

I have been a very fortunate man to find relief in some of the most unexpected places. Very fortunate indeed, and by the same token I have given a few the relief they were in need of also. What goes around comes around. Good poem, Ron.
