Just a little ditty to make you feel better about all that deep doo you are in.

 Upon a Whim

Once upon a whim,
I looked outside my skin,
to see the state that I was in.

Not the state of confusion,
or a state of illusion,
there was no contusion,
or emotional atomic fusion.

It was just a state of mind,
in a country that I find,
is great for all its ills,
where opportunity fulfills.

We all have bucket lists,
doing things that suddenly exist.
Lots of time to fool around,
lots of time to just propound.

We can take off on a whim,
regardless of the state we're in.
First to our heart's desire,
become a frequent flyer.

We can selfie with the stars,
we can see ourselves on Mars.
We can dream of new dimensions,
find a mate with similar intentions.

A good life we are in,
better than, it's ever been,
where else can we begin,
to follow our latest whim.

I think I'll write a book,
it will have a different look,
the ideas have begun to cook,
Oh, the chances that I took.

A butterfly flies with flim,
an otter loves to swim.
A dolphin waves its fin,
all of it on a whim.

So crawl with me out on the limb,
and join me in the whim we're in.

A "whim" of a write, yet profound in its charm in introspection. To look beneath the haze that often shrouds the surroundings of our lives is to embrace a Zen like determination, an effort to relieve oneself from the obvious impressions, attachments to suffering, pain, et al and look at all the possibilities and choices we have living in this country of ills, yet far less ills than most. Great write, Ron. I think there was some synergism going on between us as I took a different take in "Made" but posited we can all see the forest in spite of the trees, opt to take in some fragrances besides that of loss and disappointment. Your words and phrasing in this one was spot on in asking the reader to consider what we do have, not we don't. Again, great write.

Some good fun here. I like the rhymes and the thoughts that go with them. Perhaps I need to lighten up too. My whims are a little too grim. Thanks. John

Kind of a hiphop feel to this poem. But it has a light-hearted touch. It's not insistent like some rap artists who pound you in the face with rotten fish.

On that same thought,
You really just ought,
To enjoy going out on a limb,
And doing whatever you want,
Whatever you want & only on a whim...-e-

Your poem is spirited, positive, and uplifting! As important as it may be to stop and smell the roses every now and then, it's even better to follow our latest whim. When we do, life is grand! Thank you for the reminder.
