I DON'T KNOW RONALD...IT REALLY DOES DEPEND IN WHAT DIRECTION THE 'ONE TRACK MIND', 'ADDICTION' IS GOING. AND WHO'S TO SAY WHICH WAY IS RIGHT? FOR EACH PERSON HAS TO BE LED BY THEIR OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCES, WHICH MOLD AND SHAPE THEIR CONVICTIONS AND COMMITMENTS. BUT FOR SURE, ONE MUST BE 'ADDICTED' TO WHAT THEY BELIEVE IN. I SAY THIS BECAUSE, FOR ME, WHOM GOD BROUGHT THROUGH THE MIRE, THE WORD OF GOD HOLDS 'ALL' THE ANSWERS AS TO HOW ONE CAN 'PURGE' WHAT THEY FEEL IS A NEGATIVE ADDICTION. AND IT GIVES THIS ADVICE; SEEK YE "FIRST"(MAT 6:33) THE KINGDOM OF GOD...AND ALL THINGS WILL BE ADDED UNTO YOU. IT ALSO WARNS NOT TO BE FOOLED BY THE DELUSION THAT ON THIS ROAD OF LIFE THERE IS A 'MIDDLE' ROAD, THERE'S ONLY TWO(MAT 7:13-14). THE VERY BROAD ONE WHERE EVERYONE CHOOSES TO DO THE SAME THING, OR THE NARROW ONE WHERE EVERYONE CHOOSES NOT TO DO THE SAME THING. SO THEN, THERE ARE 'ONE TRACK MINDS' THAT CHOOSE TO 'FOLLOW THE CROWD' AND THEN THERE ARE 'ONE TRACK MINDS' WHICH CHOOSE NOT TO 'FOLLOW THE CROWD'. THE STRENGTH TO 'PURGE', AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED, MUST COME FROM GOD, WHO WILL ALWAYS HELP THE SINCERE SEEKER TO FIND HIS WAY, FOR; WE CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHICH STRENGTHENS US(PHIL 4:13). With the subconscious running the show 98% of the time it is a scary prospect if someone is 'conditioned' with strong and not necessarily positive beliefs...
It is very difficult to reverse this thinking, though there are certain methods you can go through that assist in this process now...

The root cause of group thinking from another perspective can be as simple as linear versus non-linear thinking. Depending upon the challenge, the opportunity both have assets and liabilities. Most cults, religions, organizations or similar groups tend to encourage linear thinking among the group. Not necessarily bad, not necessarily good. Non- linear thinking enables us to, what if, and blue sky routinely which is a good thing for many challenges. Linear thinking is also good for many challenges. Exercising both is always desirable. My opinion Ron.

I am basically going to stay on the sidelines on this one. But I simply can't resist making the following point. The fact remains that we all carry within us a belief system that has a starting point somewhere. Traditional peoples the world over down through history have adopted the initial premise of faith in some form of Divine Intelligence or Supreme Being. Modern-day individuals, who embrace the modern scientific worldview, also has a starting point whose initial premise replicates a “faith” in the powers of cognitive thinking (reason and the human mind) together with the five senses to verify the true nature of the reality, namely physical (material) reality only. As such, it seems that we all have a “one tract mind”. John

Lovely thought, mr. Ron.. Highly applicable especially to my generation.. It seems that today, generation after generation, we struggle towards the constant perpetual conditioning we are in making most of us puppets or sheep.. Those few who are strong enough to go against the mainstream idea of living are being ridiculed.. But fuck that, as F. Nietzsche once said, you look at me coz i'm different, i look at you coz you're all the same..

Muhammad Ali once said, A man who looks at the world at 50, the same way he did at 30 has wasted 20 years of his life. Change is constant, and we don't change, we get stuck with that one track mind. Well written and thought provoking.

Truer words have never been penned Ron. I agree completely with you. Many things can stunt a person's spirit, life and creativity. Religious fanaticism is certainly one of those constricting influences. Well penned and very personally meaningful to me.

Sometimes, dear Ron, I believe in a few different ideologies in one day! I find them all very intriguing, kind of like connecting the dots.
