Lots to obsess over. What's your addiction? Religion?

Acting on Obsession

Have you ever had the urge to splurge,

the hinge to binge, the rage to fill,

the prescription of your election?

The flavor that you savor, ample pie,

topped with whipped cream waiver,

tip you over into a buttery cringe,

that fattens the edge of your affliction?

Do you supersize with craving eyes,

and add "the works" to your concoction?

Does the smell of barbecue and bacon mix,

to put meat on your fatty complexion?

Do you go deep into your Internet hole,

seeking a sexual, new high goal?

When you can't find it on your street bare,

kill the perpetrators right in their lair?

Bet on the ponies for your next big score,

push the button on the one armed whore,

listening to the bells chime, more, more, more.

There is a pill to solve every itch and affliction,

if one pill is good, two pills are better,

why follow the prescription to the letter?

If one pill makes you larger than life,

then two pills should make you soar,

to grow your mighty insatiable addiction,

until you beg for gore, and more.

Beat me with a stick so I feel better,

we are so codependent down to the letter,

suicide is next for the ultimate high,

why should we let another day go by?

Check your obsessions at the door,

see what you crave, too much, too more,

don't come knocking on my door,

go cold turkey for all I care.

I LOVE THIS RONALD...WONDERFUL! WELL...YOU KNOW ME, MY OBSESSION IS 'GOD'. I WON'T DENY IT, WON'T EVEN TRY...HE IS 'EVERYTHING' TO ME. HE IS THERE AT EVERY TURN I MAKE. HE IS MY 'AIR'...ALL THAT I NEED AND MORE! AND I DON'T WANT TO BE CURED! FOR YEARS I WALKED AROUND WITHOUT AN OBSESSION, EXCEPT THE 'NORMAL' ONES LIKE...CHOCOLATE AND SEX(SMILE). NOW I ONLY HAVE 'ONE' AND IT LIVES WITHIN ME AND I AM QUITE SATISFIED WITH IT...I AM OBSESSED WITH JESUS AND HIS LOVE! I COULD NOT, WOULD NOT, CAN'T, DON'T EVER WANT TO...LIVE...WITHOUT HIM. NOW AS FAR AS CHOCOLATE IS CONCERNED...I CAN AND DO LIMIT MY INTAKE, SOMETIMES, BUT I COULD VERY WELL DO WITHOUT IT. SEX...IS COMPLETELY GONE. BELIEVE ME WHEN IT WENT ON IT'S MERRY WAY(OVER 25 YEARS AGO)IT WAS ABOUT TIME, AS I HAD HAD ENOUGH FOR 3 LIFETIMES(ANOTHER SMILE). THANKS FOR THE SHARE, RONALD, ENJOYED. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

We are all humans of addictive personalities to some extent.
Very well written and expressed. Some find the courage to get better
some never do, clinging to their obsessions, like lovers.
Thank you for sharing, hope all is well : )

loved this "what if" exploration of obsessions. Would that more would read this and do some self-evaluation of their own cravings, whims and obsessions, ultimately finding there's much to check at the door.

Obsessions can be tricky. That's why I try to avoid them at all costs. You really laid this one out pretty clear. Well done.

People are obsessed in one thing or another, it is because we each hold special interest at hearts. While some obsessions are deadly, some are carried out like an OCD. I admit, I'm obsessed in politics lately, yet I still feel I need to learn more about it. It's what makes us tick, and what inspires us.

Something to reflect upon for sure, Ron. I know I have an addictive personality (many "come-ons" in this world) so, I am extra cautious. 😊 Love and peace, to you,

Regis. 🍁

I am guilty of a lot of those lines I must admit but I am also glad to be alive and pushing life even as a senior to it's limits. Well done Ronald and glad you are feeling better. Fee
