Reaching the Top

There is something about climbing a mountain,

whether it be actually or metaphorically true .

That gives one great inner satisfaction,

when you finally get there and can view.

All that lays out before you above and below,

a better understanding of the stars above,

and of the giants you are standing on,

whose shoulders steadfast with their love.

Enable you to climb higher than you could,

higher than the original goal you set.

But there is no easy way to arrive there,

without getting very tired, cold and wet.

From the top you can see more clearly,

the beauty of the sunrise and sunset.

Cold clear air clears thoughts and mind,

allowing some of your best creations yet.

Keep on climbing that path that you are on,

whether it takes you days, months or years,

to achieve through blood, sweat and tears,

beauty is in getting there, not becoming seers.

I LOVE THIS KEEPER FROM START TO END...EVERY BIT OF IT. OF COURSE, THE 'TOP' VARIES GREATLY FOR US ALL. BUT, INDEED THIS WORK EMBODIES WHAT IS NECESSARY AND WILL BE EXPERIENCED WHEN 'REACHING' FOR THE TOP. AS I SAID I ENJOYED THIS WORK, HOWEVER, THERE IS ONE LINE THAT I DON'T CHALLENGE HOWEVER, I HAVE ALWAYS LOOKED AT IT DIFFERENTLY THAN MOST PEOPLE. THE VERY LAST LINE FOR ME IS THE OPPOSITE. THE BEAUTY ON MY CLIMB IS 'SEEING GOD' -W-A-Y UP AHEAD. THERE ARE TIMES WHEN I WANT TO GIVE UP BECAUSE OF THE PAIN, CRUELTY AND 'STUFF' ONE MUST ENDURE. AND THO I REALIZE IT'S ALL PART OF MY JOURNEY, THE ONLY REASON I STAY ON THIS ROAD AND WILL NOT EVER TURN AROUND IS NOT BECAUSE IT'S BEAUTIFUL, BUT BECAUSE OF 'WHO' AWAITS ME WHEN I REACH THE TOP, THAT IS...'HOME'. THANKS FOR SHARING, RONALD, SO WELL DONE! LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

Some sound advice here. Climbing the mountain (metaphorically indeed) is never easy, but as you lay out here, oh so satisfying. As you know, I have been there (literally) and done that.

Ron,

I have read this several times now—day before yesterday, yesterday, last night, then here I am, reading it yet again this morning. It is such a beautiful, well-thought-out piece. In my opinion, it is one of your very best. Bravo! To me it is a valuable piece of wisdom for the many who will read it to follow. We have goals set for ourselves and work hard to achieve them. Once we do, not only do we see our accomplishments laid out before us, but there in our view as well are all the individuals who helped us along the way. And even though we may have accomplished our goals in life, once we attain them, we find that there are other goals yet to achieve. There is always more to do. Ron, not only are you speaking to your broad audience of followers. You are speaking to the person who has spread this bit of wisdom along rhe way—that is, you are speaking to that man, Ron Hull, who is giving thanks to all who encouraged him mightily in his effort to accomplish his many challenges. You are saying we all need one another throughout life. I have driven to the summit of Pike’s Peak twice—all 14,110 ft. Both times I was driving a rental car. The second time, the car was packed to the brim, with four passengers and all the cargo it could hold. The car didn’t have a lot of power, and I thought the other three in the car with me might have to get out and push. It was quite a struggle, but that vehicle somehow managed to get to the top. Like us, it gave its all to make it to the top. And once there, what a view we had. It was like flying on the outside of a plane. May God bless you, Ron, and may He continue to bless and be with you during the continuation of your journey.

Your friend,

David

To me, when I read a work that ascribes climbing the metaphor of the mountain or the mountain in real life, there is the dealing of inner-impact that those who don't know mountains or don't desire to put themselves there, well... they don't get it. Sad. immediately the reader is struck with the As you subtext clearly indicates, you know and I know it's not racing the top that is the lasting impact, but the process of realizing all the lessons and spiritual vibrations one experiences along the way. I'd be a basket case in many respects if I'd not had the many years of climbing, or, in my case, the enlightenment I experienced in a descent into a deep crevasse of blue ice on Mt. Hood. Not only the visuals, but the sounds were otherworldly. Yeah, one has to appreciate mountains to critique mountain poems. Well done.

The mountains you talked about in your poem is spiritual, and I can see that we each need to aim to achieve our highest accomplishment and share what we know with others. You are right about that. Thank you for the reminder!

For me, I have not reached the top of my mountain yet, I'm still striving, but whatever knowledge I have gained along the path I am happy to share with others.

I bet if I climb the mountain I will find you on the top sharing your wisdom. This was a very inspiring piece. Nicely done master poet and light bringer.

Wow, Is that you, Monseigneur Don Ron, on that ledge on high??? Careful, there are - in my estimation - some tens in our Den alone hoping to take over the Almighty's post, and, if I might say so, ready and willing to dislodge you from that height without the slightest compunction. Just trying to help. Don't bother to thank me for warning you! I'd do anything for a friend who might become the ONE on High!!!
