Watching the sea nearly endlessly results in sleep or seeing things differently.

Perpetual View from the Rail on Our Recent Cruise (View Video)

Sea/Sky photo by Hoai Nguyen

Clear Blue See

Cruising on the clear blue sea,

I get a clearer picture of you and me.

Motors seemingly wind sailing me,

across an ocean of ideas, silently.

Warm breeze and hot sun,

caressing my burning face,

it's hard to find shade,

or, a more relaxing place.

Where blue waters merge,

with the lighter blue sky.

An image forever unchanged,

infinitely, meeting the eye.

My thoughts intermingle,

with the edge of the ocean.

And sometimes, half watching,

Aye, I see, I see a great notion.

But mostly, it just dulls me to sleep,

I dream of diving with creatures of the deep.

Ron, this is so beautiful. Makes me even happier that I live at the beach.

It seems you enjoyed some things on your cruise, but others not so much. I felt for you, with the sun burning your face, and your inability to find a cool shade. When it came to your being dulled to sleep, dreaming of diving with creatures of the deep, I tried to dream of something a little more less scary. Why? Because I’m too much of a chicken.

The sea has a way of opening one's mind without their knowing it, I think. Or at least it does with me. To see the blues of the water and sky, the white of the white caps, and to breathe in the briney air are all keys to instilling peace within a mind too often filled with manic energy.

I don’t know wether to feel slightly unnerved by the blazing heat and difficulty to find shade or a more relaxing place. Or to feel calmed by the view and the mild breeze. You describe both feelings well.

Wonderful expression: "My thoughts intermingle, with the edge of the ocean." Absolutely catches the imagination! Thanks for sharing, Ron. What a lovely inner as well as outer view you had. Blessings always.

You brought smiles to my face as your words projected such honest, yet simple feelings of gratefulness. Bravo.

I did get four alerts on this poem, and can't seem to get the photo to show.

Good to have you back. You were missed by many of us.
