much of my life, music has helped me to get through tough times and fully celebrate victories

In my trek across

The mountains, plains, deserts and valleys of life

Music has been an integral force

Sometimes pushing, sometimes coaxing

Other moments just letting me

Be still and have a “moment”

Before deciding on my next step

“Thank God I’m A Country Boy”

helped me feel good about who I am.

I reflected in tears as

I drove to my old one-roomed schoolhouse

Hearing “This used To Be My Playground”

My mother sang her “Torch of Freedom”

Inspiring in me some fierce patriotism.

While “Blowin’ In The Wind”

Encouraged a more open mindedness

“Afternoon Delight” well…

no need to say more!

Hundreds upon hundreds they never cease

From radio to eight tracks, then cassette tapes

Now CD’s, computers and Ipods,

I have driven, exercised, cleaned house and stable,

Given birth, written a novel, and taught school

All to the rhythm and words of “journey music”

Which seemed was written just for me

This poem is so right as generation after generation believe they and they alone have the best music. Me I like a little of all the different ages and so I never grow too old. LOL

I would hate to live in a world without written words & music...it would be a dull place! This is full of memories of songs sung to comfort our hearts and to ease our minds. Isn't it funny how we can remember the exact spot when we first heard a song we loved. I can remember exactly where I was the first day I heard, "You ain't nothing but a hound dog!" That song remains stuck their in my cranial vault and I think it will be with me until the end. I loved this!
