Teachers or not, we teach

Dad hits mom and mom allows it

They teach sons to be brutal

And daughters to accept abuse

But that dad who loves his partner in life

Those who work through disagreements with love

Teach the value of working things out

And the art of give and take

The teacher whose husband looses

His courageous battle with cancer

Comes back through the grief to her students

She teaches that, they too, can go on after loss

A daddy who works from sun up to sundown

Caring for all he holds dear

Teaches the value of a well spent day

And to be responsible to the life you have made

The coach pushes all to excel

Not willing to accept laziness or failure

Teaches his team to be push even harder

That giving up is not ever an option

Remember whatever you do and say

May be being observed

By someone impressionable-they soak it all in

For whatever we do, we teach
