For my grandaughter who will very soon be 7

Poem Artwork

Spirit Spilling Out

With a spirit so large it spills out all over,

As she runs, she jumps, she climbs.

And she gallops and skips and hangs upside-down,

Wearing calluses on her palms and fingers.

She sings out loud as the radio plays,

And dances ‘round the room in her dress-up princess dress

She reads with great feeling and loves silly tales,

She writes never-ending stories of princesses and horses.

She climbs in my lap and snuggles up close,

And ends up in my bed about halfway through the night,

She’s the very best girl, my sweet granddaughter,

With all that spirit spilling out all over

Karen,

What a precious gift you've been given - your granddaughter, whose spirit is so large it can't be contained. And the pride you have for her spills over in beautiful lines - another gift! Well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
