Begin at the Top

Politically correct seems to mean

That we cater to the bullies.

Heaven forbid we offend a gang leader,

A drug lord, or an unfit parent.

We must, instead, give them a pat on the back,

And unearned empty words of assurance,

Telling them, "It is okay, you did your best",

But I am here to tell you it is praise for nothing,

It is not okay, and it is often not the best they could do.

So when do we put culpability where it belongs?

Is it not the responsibility of every human being,

To take care of the choices in life they have made,

Even when that thing we envisioned,

Doesn't turn out the way we had thought?

Perhaps it should begin at the top,

With this government so out of control.

The mess that was made by big shots for money,

Is now dumped on the shoulders of those,

Who had nothing to do with it all in the first place.
