Years can bring separation to a love that's not really dead but lying dorment...
Antsy thoughts jumble through my brain
as you lie here beside me inhaling and exhaling.
You're not the individual I married,
a stranger sleeps beside me,
cold, blase, distant, and indifferent to my touches.
Once we became one...time and again,
sweet words, love strokes and pledges,
brought friendship, fun and fulfillments.
Searching your back for answers,
hearing the clock tick in the silence drives me wild,
leaves me feeling alone and undesirable.
Antsy thoughts jumble through my brain.
Months pass without words of sweet nothings,
never to face and cuddle me in bed.
Whispers in your ear end in no response,
you're like a stone lying by a riverbank.
Antsy thoughts jumble through my brain
like a raging river forges through a gorge.
Time stole our fiery fervor in a flicker,
leaving an outsider in our house.
Antsy thoughts jumble through my brain,
as I remember our commitments to each other.
A promise we took to last our lifetime,
ends in two guests sharing a house.
When this hits home personally, it is both a comfort and a pain to know that, apparently, so many others have these choppy waters to deal with in our singular, most close and committed of relationships. As an individual within such a couple, it can be like being lost in hyperspace with no means of breaching the gulf, and the loneliness on both sides can become perhaps intolerable - even when both are, on the face of it, socially geared. Much wisdom and staying power are required at such times but, sadly, with many years' water under the bridge, the weariness can outweigh the willingness, unless steps are taken to start the page afresh. Can so relate to the isolation in this write, dear Barbara. We can become estranged even to ourselves when this fragmentation occurs. Bless you and thank you for your honesty here. Love, Kate xx
Very deep and honest very clearly conveyed feelings and
Your message of love that becomes dorment
Or taken for granted,it's time
To work hard to light the fire ones more!!

Yes, I live with a stranger myself

I can relate to your write.
Ma Ma Mia...what a dilemma! My dear Barbara this should not be...no, no, no...my friend, you must put the spark back into your marriage...it doesn't always have to be through touchy-touchy, bouncy-bouncy, sweaty-sweaty...ah, shucks, you know what I mean! You two have to find things to do together...like ballroom dancing, playing tennis, going for walks, finding things to laugh about...etc. The only time there should be a stranger in your bed is when he makes those guttural snorts called snores! I've been married 33 years, and there's never a dull moment in my life! I think you'd better email me for more tips! :)
Much love always

This is a common experience many share, a relationship takes a lot of work if it's going to last. Great perspective Barb.

What a great metaphor for the way many relationships end up. Why? I wish I knew the answer to that. I have felt this way a time or two.I Never give up. There is an ember there somewhere, waiting from a slight breeze to bring it back to life. Beautiful write!
A great poem that expresses the reality of a relationship after the romance has sizzled and fizzled down to an ever-day routine that is sometimes eclipsed by other emotions less exciting to the imagination than romance.
Wow! What a powerful write my friend, too often this happens in many relationships, as many become involved in their everyday life. The hectic hustle and bustle of work, kids, school, bills, and separate interests...a sad situation that is happening all across our land! A sad topic that you've captured and penned with excellence my friend!
Blessings,

Jack Brennan is hired by a group of ultra rich English aristocrats to kidnap four top IRA terrorists. The contract is time limited but do the financial rewards justify the risk?

A very sad reality that happens far too often, to many a poor soul.
