"THANK YOU, FERN!"
Dear Fern, we all thank you, but we really should spank you for spending your money on us! You brought that big order 'cross the VA-PA border, and you did it wihout any fuss. We know you have money to burn (not), but your bank account please do not spurn, no matter how loving your heart. We do appreciate knowing how much we rate, but we don't want bankruptcy to start. You thought we should eat so you brought us a treat which could hardly fit into our home; Our cupboard is stuffed and our stomachs are puffed, so we're sending this "Thank you, Fern" poem.
Thanks for the beef (our Sunday dinner) and the beans,
the tomato sauce and sugar besides.
Thanks for the flour, for the cookies and the cupcakes;
for the Brownie Mix, and for the Tide.
We really needed Comet, and paper towels to wipe on;
We're so glad for the napkins and the soap!
The toothpaste is delicious, the raisins are nutritious,
and the chicken breasts are more than we could hope!
Thank you for the Charmin, for the white marshmallow cream,
for the peanut butter, crackers and the Dove.
We're so glad for the cake mix, the cereals and Pop Tarts;
How can we express our thanks and love?
The Fritos are so yummy! and spaghetti for our tummy!
and macaroni, noodles, and who knows?
We might find some salami or some hot spicy pastrami
when we get to the bottom of those!
Tonight we drank some soda, but the ice cream is still there.
(We don't want to finish everything today)
But every bite we eat, we will think of Fern so sweet --
Three cheers for Fern --
Hurray!
Hurray!
Hurray!
There is frosting mix (imagine!)* and apple sauce and tuna,
baked beans and peaches and pancake syrup from you;
There's soup of couple flavors and some tea bags (no Lifesavers)
and Crisco to bake pies (pie filling, too.)
We'll have cocoa for our breakfast, and then for lunch the Spam;
There's other goodies hid behind the stack!
We know we saw some vegetables and some lemonade mix,
and even popcorn for our midnight snack!
The potatoes and the pancakes,
the bread and rolls from Merle,**
the paper cups and Funny Face*** to drink;
The salt up in the cupboard -- now let us stop and ponder --
We probably named everything, we think!
And so the list seems endless and the poem is far too long,
but the thing we want to say is simply this:
We thank our Father in Heaven
for the friend that He has given
in our generous, loving, sweet, kindhearted Sis! (That's You!)
*Frosting mix was fairly new on the market, and not something we would buy; it was cheaper to make it yourself.
**Merle was "The Variety Bread Man" who was a family friend and drove a truck all over town, selling bread and many other grocery products.
***Funny Face, if I remember right, was a powdered drink mix
"A KINDHEARTED WOMAN GAINS RESPECT"
Proverbs 11:16
What a delight to read! You Sis sounds like a wonderful and thoughtful person! Big applause to both of you! Excellent poetry!
Blessings to you,
~Linda

Fern was an angel in human form. Would that there would be more Ferns in life...in mine, there have been many: church family; friends; Authors Den friends. Perhaps the most special of all: I've seen the goodness of people, especially as of late. God is good.
Beautiful poem of gratitude and praise: well done!
(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
Your pantry is also filled with a heart full of thanksgiving! As King David said, "I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread."
Praise Him, The LORD always provides for His Own!
A plentiful write...Bless you, SIS!
