SEEING THE SON

My preparations were completed, tender farewells all
said and done;  Darkening clouds veiled the horizon,
but just ahead, I saw the Son.

We've walked the path of life together, rejoicing over
victories won.  For you, life's road will now be lonely,
but just ahead, I see the Son.

I'll not reproach you for your weeping; tears are a gift
you must not shun.  Within the balm of their healing flow, you'll learn to look unto the Son.

Beloved ones, I know you'll miss me;  We've shared
the sad times and the fun.  But may your grief
be eased by knowing that just ahead, I'm with the Son.

Think not that I will e'er forget you; my love for you
has just begun.  But as I wait for glad reunion,
I'll live rejoicing with the Son!

Once I had merely earthly vision, struggling to see
the Holy One.  Praise God!  Now I see from
heaven's view, and gaze enraptured on the Son!

He gave Himself to earn my pardon; took all my sins
and left me none.  I'll have eternity to thank Him
as I am walking with the Son!

I'll seek a favor from the Master, for you have yet
a race to run;  I pray He'll comfort all your sorrow,
and in your heart you'll see the Son.

I'll ask Him to grant calm assurance, and grace to see your battles won, knowing when all your work
is finished, that just ahead you'll see the Son!
