Minimum Wage

This is what I think of the increase in the minimum wage that was voted in this week. It's my own opinion.

Minimum Wage

I’m on my knees before you

You think you are the lord

The male member in my mouth is yours

Makes you think you’re worth even more

What’s it all for?

Oh, mighty boss

Praying to the almighty dollar

For it to come in buckets full

Your profits, your margins

What’s it all for?

I have little and I’m poor

I work overtime each week

But it takes even more

So, I’m meek and you’re weak

And just what’s it all for?

I do this out of need for

Myself and what I’m responsible for

You do this for power

To make yourself feel whole

What’s it all for?

Six seconds of bliss

Your eyes roll back in your head

I dribble your seed on the floor

Never to bring forth a profit again

What’s it all for?

Who’s more pathetic you or me?

I submit myself for money

You do it for a return on something

Yes, you love me for a minute or two

But I ask you anyway what’s it all for?

It's a vicious and never ending cycle, Liz. Your poem is a well-expressed "slap in the face" to those for whom it is destined. Thank you. Love and peace to you,

Regis

Very well penned. When they do raise min. wages up a little, every thing else go up in price. For example; the price of gas to fill the car. Well written. Enjoyed the read.

You know Liz, this one hits home. I went on an interview yeaterday and the pay is min. wage. I got laid off last Sept. after 17 yrs. by that low life piece of human waste I wasted all those years and time I can't get back on. And now, after working my ass off and wearing the perverbial knee pads I worked myself up to 40,000 a year. Today, no one will even hire me at min. wage, not even part time. There is something really sick going on. Great poem and hard hitting sentiment here.

OMG, I'm close to tears, for I know women who will do anything to survive..

Dribbling seed on the floor is a punch in the gut. A sad poem, if it's true, bloody makes my blood boil..
Men need to be men... With English respect for the fairer sex...

Interesting write, but the point of minimum wage is not for the employees or the employers. It is a guaranteed baseline pay for our government, nothing more, nothing less.

Be safe,
Karen

BRILLIANT! The rich get richer and yes, we poor get screwed. Sad.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
